Ignacio Montaldo is an architect from the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the University of Buenos Aires, where he has been a doctoral candidate since 2016. He currently works as a Regular Adjunct Professor at the same institution and Associate Professor of the subjects Project II and Constructions III at the School of Architecture and Urban Studies of the Torcuato Di Tella University. In 2016 he founded the Architecture Documents Laboratory of the UNSAM Institute of Architecture, of which he was director until 2022. Since 2004 he has directed the architecture studio moarqs in the City of Buenos Aires. The office defines his work at the intersection between the tectonic and thermodynamic views of the architectural object, addressing the tensions between generic repetition versus spatial specificity. Architectural decisions are based on ideological and programmatic simplicity, focusing on comfort of use, structural economy and construction logic, promoting flexible structures that are capable of iterations and future uses. His work has received numerous awards and distinctions both in architecture competitions and in national and international biennials.
