FACUTAD OF ARCHITECTURE DESIGN AND URBANISM
BUENOS AIRES’ UNIVERSITY
The Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) is the generic name referring to Argentina mega-city which includes the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and its conurbation over the homonymous province, without constituting an administrative unit. San Fernando founded in 1821, with an area of 23 KM2 and a population of 163,240 inhabitants is one of the 14 districts that comprise it.
During the period 2005-2015 a series of projects and works were carried out as a result of a master plan for the recovery of public spaces in the city.
The meaning of these interventions is linked to the social role that public space fulfills within the urban fabric; Being the civic space, binding, generating social and participative coexistence. The public space is the possibility of experiencing a certain sense of collective identity shared by the different members of a society.
